Wordfence attempts to send a test email using the WordPress wp_mail function. The send fails because the underlying mail transport does not work. This failure stops Wordfence from delivering alerts, reports, and other notifications.
The problem originates from server mail configuration, SMTP plugin settings, firewall rules, or a broken PHP mail function. When any of these components reject or block the email, Wordfence reports an email send error.
