infoWordPress Coreerrorerrorerror403apiapiextensionpluginstar_halfUncommonwarningModerate

This site is managed by a different user account, can not add this site to your account.

This error appears when the site is already linked to another WordPress.com or management account. The API reads the stored user ID and rejects a second claim. The mismatch generates a 403 response and the banner you see.

The check runs during the Add Site process for Jetpack, ManageWP, or similar plugins. If the stored ID differs from the current account, the request is denied.

Symptoms

[dashicons-warning]
Error banner in Add Site dialog
Shows message "This site is managed by a different user account, can not add this site to your account."
[dashicons-admin-site]
Dashboard lists site under another account
Jetpack or ManageWP dashboard displays the site as already connected to a different user.
[dashicons-admin-generic]
Console shows 403 or 401 response
Network tab reports forbidden or unauthorized status from api.wordpress.com or managewp.com.

Common Causes

Existing Jetpack connection
Site stores jetpack_user_id that points to another WordPress.com account.
ManageWP Worker linked to different account
Worker plugin reports a user ID that does not match the current login.
Firewall blocks custom headers
Host blocks MWP-Action or MWP-Signature headers, causing the API to treat the request as mismatched.
